Glass Fibres

Textile glass is characterized by a high tensile strength at low elongation and low specific gravity. It is not flammable. Glass fibre fabrics have a high tear strength even at higher temperatures. Glass fibres are resistant to lubricants, solvents and most acids and alkalis at pH of 3-9.

Nevertheless, the material properties are dependant on temperatures and the chemical milieu. Acids dissolve the glass partially - the fibre glass fabric becomes brittle. Alkalis degrade the glass surface over time. Glass fibre do not contain harmful substances. According to recent findings lung damages do not occur because of a minimum filament diameter of 4 µm.

Use in combination with PTFE-, Silicone and PU- coating

GThe mechanical strength, chemical properties and the temperature resistance makes the glass fibre fabrics suitable as carrier for PTFE-, silicone and PU coatings.
